Crawling back...

The funny thing about trying to maintain a journal is that the more things you do that would be interesting to write about, the less time you have to write about them. Not that I've been so busy that I have any real excuse for not writing for months at a time, but you get the picture...

I'm dedicated to getting on top of things again, so I'll be writing about what I'm doing these days while posting pictures from January until now, flashback-style. To come back with some flair, here are some pictures from Carnaval to start out with. Right after my birthday, a town nearby called Sitges had a big Carnaval celebration from Thursday to Tuesday, each night with its own theme. The ones with the lovely blonde Karen Salerni are from Friday night, and the rest are from Saturday night after she left me to go back to the states. Many more pictures from Karen's visit to come...

Earlier that day, we raided Party City and threw together sparkly hats, wigs, deliciously tacky accessories, and silver wings. Everyone kept asking what we were supposed to be, and we didn't really know... but who says there has to be a theme?

The ambiance was made even more fabulous high percentage of drag queens who came out in full force and full costume.

The first time I met Cristal and Lia, they were dressed up like guys and I had purple hair.

In the metro station, Too Legit to Quit.

By the time we got back to Barcelona, it was 8 am and the sun was up.

Karen had a flight to catch a few hours later.....

....And then there was one.

~~~~~~
The next night, I took the train again to Sitges to meet up with Cristal, Lia, and Antonio at his apartment. While I was strategically applying silver stars to my face, I started talking with the three Italian guys who were sitting next to me. Before I knew it, they all wanted stars and designs painted on their faces, and set up a makeshift makeup studio on the party train in between stops.
I ended up going out as a purple angel with Lia, Antonio, and his brother Jaime.
Lia celebrated the ugliest costumes of the night by getting pictures with the best ones.
All in all, it was an absolute blast. I'm anxiously awaiting the next Carnaval, or at least the next opportunity to rock the purple wig. Stay tuned!
